Maintenance Supervisor

*This is a Hands-On Maintenance Supervision Role*

Maintenance Supervisor

Under the direction of the ZD (Zorba Davenport) Facility Manager, works within company policy and directives to oversee the safe and efficient maintenance operation of all aspects of the ZD facility. This includes but is not limited to: planning of all maintenance activities, setting, monitoring and maintaining maintenance budgets, pricing and procurement of equipment and supplies to support the ZD facility, ensuring safe and efficient maintenance of equipment to meet production requirements by properly maintaining all facility equipment.

Primary Responsibilities:

•Supervises ZD maintenance employees including hiring, training, developing, administering corrective actions, and terminations as necessary.

•While working with the ZD Facility Manager researches new opportunities; stays current with recovery technology by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.

•Supports existing ZD recovery business by maintaining excellent relationships with both internal and external customers.

•Maintains systems and equipment by completing preventative maintenance schedules, restores, repairs, rebuilds or replaces faulty or inoperable components and parts.

•Supports ZD production operations by contributing technical and maintenance information to ZD Manager in line with production goals and strategic plan.

•Meets maintenance financial standards by providing annual budget information, monitoring expenditures, identifying variances, and recommending and implementing corrective actions.

•Evaluates functionality and reliability of facility systems and associated equipment by conferring with operating departments, identifying problems and solutions.

•Maintain reliability of facility systems and associated equipment by implementing a preventive maintenance program by planned testing and restoration.

•Establish measurement and metrics of ZD performance by studying results and identifying and recommending improvement changes.

•Maintains company safety and environmental objectives and standards; maintains ISO 9001 and 14000 as well as OSHA compliance requirements. Ensures employees receive necessary safety and environmental training.

•Manages cost and expenditures within scope of position and takes action to meet or exceed budgeted targets for volume, net profit and ROI.

•Responsible for managing the Alter AMMS program.

•Assists with and monitors annual budgets and monthly operating reports.

•Occasionally may operate yard equipment, perform light equipment maintenance etc.

•Performs other responsibilities as assigned or directed.


Champions the safety program and safety training with the support of the Regional EHS Coordinator. Sets safety example by following all safety standards and policies including wearing all necessary PPE when in the yard and facility. Reviews the facility, processes, employees and contractors to recognize safety requirements including hazards, improvements, training and developing all aspects of a safe and efficient facility. Conducts accident investigations following incidents, accidents and near-misses. Completes all notifications and associated paperwork.


Prefer Associate or Bachelor’s degree in operations management, process or mechanical engineering, or other related field and 5 years industry experience including supervisory experience. Must have electronic troubleshooting skills, knowledge of conveyance systems, and PLC knowledge (a plus). Position requires technical leadership and technical understanding of complex operating systems. Previous experience required in equipment maintenance including hydraulics for mobile equipment, industrial air compressors/driers and aerial platform lifts. Must possess a demonstrated ability to build an effective team. Must have excellent open communication style to carry out ongoing dialogues in a way that creates trust and confidence within all levels of the company as well as with external vendors and customers. Ability to travel occasionally to visit other facilities or customers as needed. Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license.


ZD Maintenance staff (2 Maintenance Technicians - 1 on 1st & 1 on 2nd shift) will report to this position.

Compensation: $25+ per hour
