Web Designer - Mutual Med


The Web Designer creates the look, layout, and features of a website. The job involves understanding both graphic design and minor knowledge of computer programming. Once a website is created, the Web Designer helps with maintenance and additions to the website. The Web Designer will also work with development teams or managers for keeping the site up-to-date and prioritizing needs, among other tasks. The Web Designer will work with department colleagues to develop and maintain systems and applications in support of Mutual Med’s mission.

Primary Duties:

•Writing and editing content

•Designing webpage layout

•Determining technical requirements

•Updating websites

Additional Duties:

•Attends meetings with users and others as new technologies are considered.

•Manage support tickets and ensure they are closed in a timely fashion.

•Assists other members of the IT department with key projects or tasks.

•Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Experience:

•3-5 years of related experience.

•Candidate must have a strong understanding of UI, cross-browser compatibility, responsive design, general web functions and standards.

•Candidate will be expected to provide recommendations on design improvements that will improve the user experience on our sites.

•Must be able to modify our existing sites that leverage Bootstrap for responsive design.

•The position requires constant communication with colleagues.

•Some Graphic Design would be preferred.

•Basic networking and computer skills.

•Familiarity with Visual Studio, MVC and Razor Views would be preferred.

•Knowledge of the insurance industry would be preferred.

•Ability to prioritize work assignments.

•Excellent problem solving and technical capabilities.


BA highly preferred in Web Design or a related field.

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Must be able to lift 10 pounds on a frequent basis. Also required is the ability to listen, hear, speak, read, write, climb stairs, bend, stoop, and stand for intermittently long periods of time. Must be able to use a computer to accomplish a variety of job tasks.

Expected hours of work:

The position works a 40 hour work week, 12 months per year. Work hours are generally 8am – 4:30pm.

Occasional after hours work required, including periods of on-call availability.


Little to no travel is expected for this position.
